Meet our Trainers
Kirsti Smith is a trainer at Off Leash K9 Training, Scranton Pennsylvania. She has been a dog lover all her life and finally found her place in the world; working with dogs and their owners, so they can have the best life possible! Kirsti believes that the bond between K9 and human is the key to happiness. Through proper, professional training, your bond will grow and become stronger each day.
Kirsti has an American Bully named Maggie and an American Hairless Terrier named Aldo! Aldo helped Kirsti through some troubling times so she understands first hand how important the bond between K9 and owner is and how beneficial it can be for both dog and human. She lives for that moment when you, as an owner, and your dog truly understand each other.
Kirsti knows that every dog is unique with one thing in common: they want to please their humans. They thrive when mentally stimulated and can bring you true happiness as a happy, obedient dog! Kirsti wants to show you how to achieve an amazing bond through Off Leash K9 Training so you can fully enjoy your life together.
Kirsti came to us with a lifetime of experience as a dog owner. She has had German shepherds, Doberman pinschers, Rottie’s, Golden retrievers, Bully’s, Terriers, Black labs, Mastiffs, and German shorthair pointers.
She is excited to advance her career with protection work and looks forward to working with your family so you have an amazing life with your dog!
Cassie Wagner is the head trainer of the Off Leash K9 Training, Lehigh Valley & Scranton locations and the facility manager for the Lehigh Valley location in Allentown. She offers professional training that will strengthen the bond between you and your dog. Cassie feels that the most important aspects of dog training are trust, love, communication, and mental and physical exercise. After being a client of Off Leash K9 Training herself and seeing the life-changing results between her and her own dog she wants to help others achieve those same results as well. Her greatest joy is seeing the transformation between owner and dog from the first lesson to the last.
Cassie studied Wildlife Management & Conservation at Delaware Valley University and has a background working with a variety of animals including White-Tailed Deer, songbirds, owls, and hawks. She has worked at an array of places giving her a strong background in domesticated animals; including a vet’s office, a dog daycare & boarding facility, and a whole foods pet store. Although she is beyond passionate about wildlife, dogs have always held a special place in her heart and she found herself yearning for a lifelong career involving dogs. She is thrilled to be a part of the Off Leash K9 family and believes that this type of work is her true calling.
Cassie’s favorite pastime is hiking with her dogs. She currently has a German Shepherd named Nala and a Native American Indian Dog named Talcon. One of her life goals is to visit and hike at every state park in Pennsylvania. The great outdoors is her favorite place to be and also where she believes her and her dogs are happiest. She also enjoys skateboarding, snowboarding, and listening to music.
Cassie wants to help you and your dog to succeed to the best of your ability and create a mutual relationship built on trust and respect. When dog and owner come together and understand one another it is a very beautiful thing.
Kelsy Horn is a trainer with Off Leash K9 Training of the Lehigh Valley, Scranton, and Bucks County. Kelsy has always been an animal lover for as long as she can remember. She says her love of all animals is thanks to her mom’s crazy passion for animals as well, especially dogs! Kelsy has brought home everything from kittens, puppies, hamsters, rats, fish, and even chickens! Currently, she has four dogs; Suri the Border Collie, Harlow the Beagle mix, Wesson the Pitbull, and Yara the German Shepherd. Besides her love for dogs, she also has a passion for horses and riding. She has two-Quarter Horses named Luca and Senna. She also enjoys hiking and kayaking in her free time, spending time with family, and playing softball to help raise funds for the children of Make-A-Wish.
Kelsy found her passion for dog training when she was younger and her mom brought home a little stray dog, that they later named Max. Kelsy and Max had an amazing relationship and they both taught each other so much. There was an array of dogs after Max, but each one teaching her something new. She learned that every single dog has distinct needs and characteristics that make them unique. However, every dog can learn anything you throw at them given that you, the trainer, take the proper time to learn the dog itself. Kelsy knows that every dog wants respect and rewards from their owner or handler, and in return the dog will give you respect and the reward of obedience and loyalty.
Kelsy is thrilled to be a part of the Off Leash K9 team where she has found her true calling and life passion. She would like to provide professional dog training for you and your favorite four-legged friend, through mental and physical exercise in order to establish the most obedient dog you could hope for. Her goal is to strengthen the relationship between you and your companion by showing you how to execute positive communication and confidence building in your dog, while promoting playful and positive interactions.
Amanda Carnes is a trainer with Off Leash K9 Training Lehigh Valley. Amanda’s love for animals was ingrained from birth. She grew up with mainly German Shepherds and has always had a natural understanding for canine behavior and training. Growing up, Amanda found ways to train her dogs at home by her own means. She understood that the bond between an owner and a well balanced, trained K9 is one of the most fulfilling facets of life. She looks forward to helping her clients find that connection with their K9 companions and releasing its full potential!
While Amanda has always dreamed of working with animals for a living she attended Lehigh Carbon Community College where she graduated with an A.A.S. in Occupational Therapy in 2017. After working in the health care field for quite some time she felt a lack of fulfillment and satisfaction in her professional life. When the opportunity to work with Off Leash presented itself, she jumped on board without hesitation!
Amanda shares her world with three Shiloh Shepherds: Luna Rae, Nova Mae, and Kyros. Together they live north of Lehigh Valley in a serene country setting.
In her spare time Amanda enjoys hiking with her pack, photography, and keeping up with her personal dogs Instagram account! She volunteers her time at Horses and Horizons Therapeutic Learning Center where she serves as Vice President and assists people with disabilities of all ages in experiencing the joys and benefits of horseback riding. She is also heavily involved in the Shiloh community and works towards improving the Shiloh Shepherd breed in various capacities.
